  1. Learn to use powerful ideas to make schoolwork connected and meaningful.
  2. Able to transfer our learning thoughtfully and effectively to novel situations and problems.
  3. Education devoted to understanding helps learners see from the beginning why content matters (that is, what vital tasks and questions it helps them address.
  4. Prioritize content, instead of just indiscriminately marching through it.
  5. Content mastery is not the primary point of teaching even when the mission refers to academic goals.
